Do you even need presentation software just to show Bible verses?

Ask how to put Bible verses on screen and the usual answer is "get presentation software" — one of the big suites built for churches. They're capable tools. But if scripture is really all you need up there, you might be reaching for a Swiss Army knife when you want a bread knife. Here's an honest look at whether you actually need one.

What presentation suites are really for

The big church presentation packages are built to do a lot: song lyrics over video backgrounds, media playback, pre-built announcement slides, stage displays, and more, all managed from one operator seat. If your services lean on all of that, a suite earns its place, and the question of free vs paid is the right one to ask.

But here's the thing: a big chunk of churches install one of these mainly to do a single job — get the verse on screen. And for that one job, a full suite is a lot of tool, a lot of setup, and often a lot of money.

Showing scripture is a narrower job

Putting a Bible verse on screen well is actually a focused task: the right passage, big and readable, at the right moment. It doesn't inherently need timelines, media bins, or slide editors.
